High-Performing Teams
My passion for people leadership and experience in product, design, strategy & research is what propels me to scale diverse, high-performing teams.
A bit about my
leadership style.
💖 Care personally. I choose to invest in getting to know those on my team (and around me) and go the extra mile to make their work life enjoyable.
✌🏼Transparency. I like to give and receive clear concise feedback. I believe transparency builds trust.
🌱 Constant growth. I never stop learning and encourage those around me to do the same. There’s always something new we can teach each other.
🤝 Inclusivity from all angles. Designing for inclusiveness - a product that is usable by all. Celebrate our differences, everyone is welcome. The more minds the better, let’s solve this together.
Product Strategy
Executing is a lot easier when you have a plan and our teams are more effective with clear goals.
When starting at Reejig, I took 2.5 weeks to gather insights from the internal team, our users and the market. After analysing the information and patterns I crafted a strategy with 3 key pillars to focus on - each with a number of recommended solutions. With this strategy at the foundation of my OKRs, I could move at pace to make an impact.
In the first 3 months I had:
Designed and hired a cross functional design team
Implemented a Design System
Created a multi-stage plan to reach an accessible product
Setup a Research Repository - along with research processes and templates
Defined customer health tracking (NPS, CES and Utilisation dashboards) and implemented tools
Built playbooks of how to work with our neighbouring departments
Moved R&D into cross functional squads with a 2 weeks release cycle
Defined WOW for squads
In 6 months I had:
Built out the Product Management function as part of the Product Experience Team
Launched our very first Employee Experience product
Worked with engineering to turn our Design System into an accessible component library
Defined our User Segments and crafted heavily researched personas
Pivoted our focus to align with Market conditions
Created a outcome driven product roadmap, along with strategy and process for communication
Implemented Product Showcases to ensure strong alignment and visibility of Product Experiences
Implemented reporting and dashboards for customer health tracking and success metrics
Full catalogue of Product modules, features and functionality
Team Handbooks
I found that people feel more comfortable if they know exactly what is expected of them. I like to be clear and open with roles and responsibilities - so I built a Product Experience handbook.
It covers:
Team goals, principles and process
Designer roles and responsibilities
Product manager roles and responsibilities
Leveling matrix
Team Retros
I have introduced Product and Design Team Retro’s at my last few workplaces to ensure we keep our fingers on the pulse.
Bonding The team get to know each other and feel more comfortable reaching out for help.
Health Check It surfaces moral levels and makes it super easy to catch issues early.
Feedback Often results in great feedback and action points, items that are beneficial on a company level.
Support These session give the team an outlet to air their struggles, celebrate their wins or find support.
Templates
Part of my role is to clear blockers and ensure efficiency across the discipline. Every business is different, but one of the ways I do this is by creating templates for the product managers and designers to user as a starting place.
Templates made recently:
Feature canvases
GTM release plans
Usability research discussion guides
Research presentation kits
Best practise check lists
Sketch session guides
Workshop icebreakers
Social media kits
